| Beschrijving keerzijde | The large numeral '1' is prominently displayed in the upper central field, with the Cyrillic denomination legend СЎМ (Soʻm) inscribed beneath it in bold characters. A decorative wreath composed of two symmetrical cotton branches, bearing open cotton bolls and leaves, frames the denomination on either side and converges at the base of the design. The four-digit date appears in the lower exergue below the wreath. A fine beaded border runs along the inner rim of the coin. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Uzbekistan's som was introduced in 1994, replacing the transitional coupon currency that had itself only replaced the Soviet ruble two years prior. By 1997, when this nickel clad steel issue entered production, the country was deep into a period of currency inconvertibility — the government had imposed strict foreign exchange controls that effectively isolated the som from international markets until reforms began in 2003.
The KM#8 series ran through 2000, after which rampant inflation rendered the 1-som denomination functionally worthless in everyday transactions.
