| 备注 |
The Banco del Perú was one of several private commercial banks authorized to issue notes in the early 1860s, operating under Peru's brief experiment with free banking before the state gradually reasserted control over currency. The American Bank Note Company in New York handled the printing — ABNC was the dominant supplier to Latin American issuers throughout this period, and their engraved plates set the visual standard for private bank paper across the continent.
The S-prefix in the Pick reference indicates this is catalogued as a private or provincial issue, distinct from the national government series. Banco del Perú itself had a short operational window before the financial pressures of the 1870s — and ultimately the War of the Pacific — dismantled Peru's private banking structure entirely.
