| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field occupied by the crowned coat of arms of the Principality of Monaco, depicting the Grimaldi heraldic shield charged with diagonal lozenges. The shield is surmounted by a princely crown with elaborate points. A circular Latin legend surrounds the arms reading DVX. VAL. PAR. FRAN., referencing the Prince's titles as Duke of Valentinois, Peer of France. The overall composition is characteristic of late baroque heraldic coinage. |

Antoine I issued this billon sol in the immediate aftermath of a coinage devaluation decree that swept through France and its dependent territories in 1720 — the same year John Law's Mississippi Company collapsed and sent French monetary policy into convulsions. Monaco, as a French protectorate, had little choice but to align its coinage values accordingly. The "après dévaluation" designation is not decorative: it reflects a formal revaluation that changed the coin's legal tender value mid-series, making pre- and post-devaluation strikes technically distinct issues despite sharing nearly identical physical characteristics.
