Obverse description Central field features the national coat of arms of the Kyrgyz Republic, depicting a tunduk (the crown of a yurt) with rays of the rising sun above mountain peaks, flanked by wings and a white gyrfalcon (ak-shumbat) at the base, all enclosed within a wreath of wheat ears and cotton bolls. The inner legend reads КЫРГЫЗ РЕСПУБЛИКАСЫ around the coat of arms. The outer legend КЫРГЫЗСТАН УЛУУ ЖИБЕК ЖОЛУНДА (meaning 'Kyrgyzstan on the Great Silk Road') arcs along the upper periphery. Decorative Kyrgyz ornamental scrollwork adorns the lower portion of the broad flat rim. The date 2008 appears in the lower exergue.

The Burana Tower series, of which this is part, was issued to promote Kyrgyzstan's pre-Islamic Karakhanid heritage at a moment when the young republic — independent only since 1991 — was actively constructing a national historical identity distinct from Soviet framing. The Burana Tower itself is a remnant of the ancient city of Balasagun, once a major Silk Road hub, and stands near Tokmok in the Chuy Valley.

KM#35 is a circulation commemorative, not a proof issue — struck for general use rather than collector sets.
