| 背面描述 | Large numeral '1' dominates the central field, set within a stylised quatrefoil cartouche formed by traditional Central Asian ornamental filigree and dentilated bordure. The Cyrillic inscription 'СОМОНӢ' is placed immediately below the numeral, and the four-digit date appears in the lower exergue, all enclosed within the decorative ornamental frame. |

The somoni replaced the Tajik ruble in 2000 at a rate of 1,000 to one, part of a post-Soviet monetary stabilization that took nearly a decade to implement after independence. Named for Ismoil Somoni, the 9th-century Samanid ruler claimed as a founding cultural figure of Tajik national identity, the currency was a deliberate political choice to anchor the new state to a pre-Russian past.
KM#56 represents the third distinct coinage family for this denomination since the currency's introduction, with nickel brass replacing earlier bimetallic formats.
