Reverse description The right-facing bust of the Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus occupies the right portion of the field, depicted with long flowing hair in a style consistent with Renaissance portraiture. To the left of the bust, a detailed heliocentric orrery or armillary sphere diagram illustrates the solar system with the sun at the centre and planetary orbits radiating outward in a gridded hemispheric design. The curved legend NICOLAUS COPERNICUS 1473-1543 arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by a beaded border. The issue year 2010 is inscribed in the lower exergue.
