| Opmerkingen |
The trsatika takes its name from Trsat, the historic settlement above Rijeka whose medieval fortress dominates the area — an unusually localized reference for a national currency note. Croatia issued these in the months immediately following its June 1991 independence declaration, before the Croatian dinar and later kuna gave the country a more stable monetary framework. Printing domestically at Rijeka rather than abroad reflected both the urgency of the moment and the practical difficulty of contracting foreign security printers during an active conflict.
The entire trsatika series was short-lived, functionally transitional, and printed in limited runs. Produkcija TETRA was not a specialist security printer by conventional standards, which shows in the relatively modest anti-counterfeiting provisions.
