Resplendor is a small municipality in the Doce River valley, Minas Gerais, and this note belongs to a modern wave of Brazilian municipal scrip — locally issued complementary currency intended to stimulate spending within a defined geographic area. The Ubérrima is named after the Ubérrima River, a local tributary.
