| Opmerkingen |
Hell Bank Notes are ceremonial paper offerings burned in Chinese folk religious practice, intended to provide the deceased with currency in the afterlife. The "Hell Bank Corporation" imprint and the named signatories — Yen Loo (a romanization of Yanluo, the ruler of the underworld) and Yu Wong (the Jade Emperor) — are a deliberate, long-established convention of the genre, not an issuing authority in any conventional sense.
These are collected primarily as examples of folk material culture. No central print standard governs them; production runs vary widely by manufacturer, region, and decade.
