| 背面描述 | A bold, high-relief bust of Charles de Gaulle faces forward, rendered with strong sculptural modeling emphasizing the facial features of the French statesman. The birth and death years 1890 and 1970 flank the portrait in the field to left and right respectively. The legend CHARLES DE GAULLE is inscribed in large letters along the lower periphery. The engraver's signature ROGER DORVENNES appears in small letters beneath the bust. The composition commemorates the centenary of de Gaulle's birth and his death in the year of issue. |

Chad's independence commemorative gold issues were struck by the Paris Mint under the broader francophone African commemorative program that followed the 1960 decolonization wave. France actively facilitated these coins for newly independent states that lacked domestic minting infrastructure — the pieces were as much a diplomatic product as a numismatic one, intended to generate foreign exchange and international recognition simultaneously.
Mintages across the Chad independence gold series were extremely low, with most denominations produced in the hundreds rather than thousands. The 1970 date places this issue a full decade after independence, coinciding with a period of acute civil instability under President Tombalbaye.
