Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King Carol I facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and a full beard. The truncation is unadorned, and the engraver's signature KULLRICH appears in small incuse letters at the base of the bust. The circumferential legend reads CAROL I REGE AL ROMANIEI, separated by the bust, and is enclosed within a continuous inner border of beads.

Reverse description The full Romanian royal coat of arms occupies the centre of the field, featuring a quartered shield supported by two rampant lions, the ensemble surmounted by a royal crown and draped with an ermine-lined mantle. A scroll beneath the shield bears the motto NIHIL SINE DEO. The date 1882 is divided across the field to the left and right of the arms, with the Bucharest mint mark B at lower left. The denomination 10 BANI appears in large letters along the lower arc, all within a beaded border.
