Venezuela redenominated its currency in 2018, cutting six zeros from the bolívar fuerte to create the bolívar soberano — and then, just three years later, redenominated again in 2021, cutting another six zeros to produce the bolívar digital. This 10 Bolívares note belongs to that second redenomination series, meaning a single unit nominally equaled 10,000,000,000,000 of the pre-2018 bolívares. The arithmetic of hyperinflation made the exercise almost immediately academic.
Cotton substrate and a security thread place it in conventional production, but the 2021 series was already being outpaced by inflation before distribution was complete.
