| Opmerkingen |
The Mindanao Emergency Currency Board was one of several provincial bodies that issued guerrilla currency during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. These notes were produced under extraordinary conditions — limited materials, improvised printing equipment, constant threat of discovery — and the Mindanao series is among the more organized of the wartime emergency issues, reflecting the relatively coordinated resistance infrastructure on that island compared to some other provinces.
Japanese authorities declared possession of guerrilla currency a punishable offense, which means notes that actually circulated did so at genuine risk to those carrying them. Survivors are often found with folds consistent with concealment rather than ordinary pocket wear.
