Obverse description Obverse trial strike featuring the effigy of Francisco Hernández de Córdoba facing forward, with the encircling legend REPUBLICA DE NICARAGUA positioned at the top of the coin. The date 1912 appears at the bottom of the field, flanked by decorative stars, with the Heaton Mint mark H also present in the legend. This piece represents an obverse trial produced at the Heaton Mint in Birmingham, struck in aluminium to test the die design prior to final production.
