正面铭文 FAUSTIN Ier EMPEREUR D'HAITI
(Translation: Faustin I Emperor of Haiti)
背面描述 The Imperial coat of arms of Haiti occupies the central field, consisting of a horizontally lined shield charged with a palm tree and crossed cannons, supported on either side by a rampant lion. The shield is surmounted by an imperial crown. Below the arms, a decorative ornament featuring a crowned cross divides the denomination 10 C. at left from the date 1855 at right, each flanked by a six-pointed star. The arc legend LIBERTÉ INDEPENDANCE runs along the upper periphery, separated from the border by a continuous beaded inner circle.

附加信息

Faustin Soulouque declared himself Emperor Faustin I in 1849, transforming Haiti's republic into an empire that lasted until his forced abdication in 1859. This essai — a pattern strike produced for approval rather than circulation — dates to a period when Soulouque was actively attempting to project imperial legitimacy through coinage reform. Whether the design was ever formally approved for circulation is unclear; the survival of pattern pieces without a corresponding business strike suggests the project stalled, possibly amid the political turbulence that preceded his exile to Jamaica.
