| Beschrijving voorzijde | A Spanish Republican postal stamp (10 Céntimos, green) affixed to the obverse face of the cardboard disc, serving as the primary design element. The stamp bears the legend REPUBLICA ESPAÑOLA arching around the upper border, with the large numeral 10 prominently displayed in the central field within a circular frame. The denomination CÉNTIMOS appears below the numeral, and CORREOS is inscribed along the lower margin of the stamp. The perforated edges of the stamp are visible against the plain cardboard ground. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Palafrugell, a small Catalan coastal municipality, issued emergency cardboard currency in 1937 as the Republican war economy collapsed conventional supply chains for metal. These local emergency emissions — known as *moneda de necessitat* — proliferated across Republican-controlled Catalonia after the central government in Valencia proved unable to maintain adequate coin supply to municipalities. Hundreds of towns produced their own, many surviving in relatively good condition simply because cardboard hoarded better than it circulated.
