The "Angler" in the name refers to the camp's location, not a fishing motif. Camp currency was issued to prevent prisoners from accumulating Canadian legal tender, which could theoretically fund escape attempts or black-market dealings with guards. The red paper denomination scheme was standard across Canadian POW scrip, with color used to differentiate values at a glance. These notes circulated only within the wire.
