Obverse description The national coat of arms of Trinidad and Tobago occupies the central field, featuring a shield charged with a sailing vessel and three hills, supported by an ibis and a scarlet macaw rampant on either side, with a steel helmet and coconut palm crest above. A scroll below the shield bears the national motto in two parts. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO runs along the upper periphery in Latin script, while the Franklin Mint mark and date 1982 appear in the lower field beneath the arms.

Reverse description A finely detailed hummingbird in full flight is depicted in the central field, its wings outstretched and plumage rendered with intricate engraving, facing right. The denomination 10 CENTS is prominently displayed in the upper field above the bird. The commemorative legend TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE curves around the full periphery in Latin script, completing the circular border design.
