| Opmerkingen |
Libya's first post-revolutionary banknote series, issued under the newly declared Libyan Arab Republic after Gaddafi's September 1969 coup displaced the Senussi monarchy. The Central Bank replaced the former National Bank of Libya as issuing authority, and this series — printed by Bradbury Wilkinson at their New Malden facility — was ready within two years of the overthrow. Bradbury Wilkinson handled much of anglophone and recently decolonized Africa's currency printing during this period, which gives the series a certain shared aesthetic with contemporaneous issues from neighboring states.
The watermark is the sole mechanical security feature — modest by any standard, but consistent with the series across denominations.
