Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Tajikistan in the centre of the field, depicting a stylised rising sun with radiating rays above a mountain range, surmounted by a crown and flanked by a cotton branch to the left and a wheat ear to the right, with an open book at the base. A wreath tied with ribbons frames the central device. The Cyrillic legend • ҶУМҲУРИИ ТОҶИКИСТОН • (Republic of Tajikistan) curves along the upper periphery, and the date appears at the bottom of the field between two raised dots.

Aanvullende informatie

Tajikistan's diram denominations were introduced in 2000 when the somoni replaced the Tajik ruble at a rate of 1,000 to one — a redenomination forced by the economic collapse that followed the country's brutal civil war of the 1990s. The brass-plated steel composition adopted for this issue reflects the persistent budgetary constraints on the National Bank throughout the 2000s and into the following decade.
