Obverse description A vignette at right portrays a farmer guiding a wooden plough drawn by two water buffalo across a paddy field, rendered in fine intaglio lines. At left, an oval guilloche frame serves as the watermark window, flanked by the denomination numeral '10' in red on both upper corners. The lower portion carries the legal tender inscription in English, Malay, Chinese, and Tamil scripts, dated 1st March 1961, with a printed signature below.

Reverse description The centre of the reverse is dominated by a large guilloche rosette bearing the numeral '10', surrounded by intricate lathe-work underprint in deep red. Five heraldic shields — the arms of Brunei, Sarawak, the Federation of Malaya, Singapore, and North Borneo — are arranged across the upper and lower portions of the design. A circular watermark space occupies the right field, and a Jawi script panel appears at the lower centre within a decorative border.
