Obverse description Intaglio portrait vignette of Joseph J. Roberts, first President of Liberia, at centre against a fine guilloche underprint in orange and blue. The Coat of Arms of the Republic of Liberia appears to the left within an ornate guilloche oval, flanked by two signature lines for the Minister of Finance and the Executive Governor. The denomination numeral "TEN" is printed in large letterpress characters to the right, with the legend "THIS CENTRAL BANK NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR TEN LIBERIAN DOLLARS" above it. The header reads "REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA" and the foot inscription reads "TEN DOLLARS".

A multicolour windmill watermark device appears in the upper right, and the denomination "10" is printed in each corner.
