Anguilla's Regatta — held annually since 1967 and among the longest-running in the Caribbean — was originally organized partly as a strategy to keep local boat-building traditions alive at a moment when the industry was collapsing. The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank has issued collector gold under the ECCB umbrella before, but Anguilla-specific attributions within that program are relatively uncommon given the territory's small size and limited philatelic and numismatic output.
