Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a tiara and with hair elaborately dressed, after the effigy modelled by Arnold Machin. The legend COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMA ISLANDS arcs around the upper periphery, while ELIZABETH II is inscribed along the lower periphery. The entire design is framed by a continuous beaded border.

Reverse description Central view of Fort Charlotte in Nassau, flanked by two tall palm trees whose fronds arch gracefully over the composition, with the sea rendered in the foreground and a rising sun visible behind the fort's battlements. A flagpole rises above the fortification at centre. The denomination TEN DOLLARS is inscribed in a curved legend along the upper periphery, and the date 1971 appears in the lower field. A small cartouche bearing the gold fineness mark 917 is positioned at the lower right, with a beaded border encircling the entire design.
