| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse depicts a detailed engraving of a steam locomotive, numbered TV 1901, advancing along railway tracks toward the viewer at a three-quarter angle, with billowing clouds of smoke rising dramatically from its funnel. Two birds in flight are visible above the smoke cloud. To the left, a shadowed silhouette of a map or landmass provides a contrasting matte background. The denomination '$10' appears in the lower left field, while the legend 'HINDENBURGDAMM' arcs vertically along the right periphery, with the commemorative dates '1927 – 2007' inscribed in the upper field, marking the 80th anniversary of the Hindenburg Dam railway causeway. |

Nauru's commemorative coinage has long served as a vehicle for themes with little organic connection to the island itself, and this piece is no exception. The Hindenburgdamm — the rail causeway linking the island of Sylt to the German mainland — was completed in 1927 and named after Reich President Paul von Hindenburg, a name it has retained despite considerable postwar debate about honoring him given his role in appointing Hitler as Chancellor in 1933.
The Bank of Nauru issued numerous silver commemoratives in the 2000s through European distributors targeting the collector market rather than domestic circulation.
