Obverse description The complete national coat of arms of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided by a cross and displaying three galleons, supported by a hummingbird dexter and a scarlet ibis sinister, both with wings displayed. A helmet and wreath surmount the shield, topped by a ship's wheel with a palm tree crest. A ribbon scroll at the base bears the national motto in the legend. The country name REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO arcs along the upper periphery in Latin lettering, with the date 1982 positioned at the lower field.
