| Obverse lettering | EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK 1 OZ .9999 GOLD · TEN DOLLARS |
| Reverse description | A naturalistically rendered Montserrat Oriole (Icterus oberi), depicted in full color with vivid saffron-orange underparts and jet-black head, wings, and tail, perches in right profile on a leafy branch bearing orange berries. The lush tropical foliage and branch are rendered in polychrome color printing, while the background field features an engraved volcanic mountain landscape in the gold substrate, evoking the island's Soufrière Hills. The legend MONTSERRAT arcs along the upper rim, and the date 2023 appears in the lower field. |

| Additional information |
The Montserrat Oriole exists on one island and nowhere else — a species pushed to the brink by the 1995 eruption of the Soufrière Hills volcano, which buried roughly half of Montserrat under ash and pyroclastic flow and eliminated most of the bird's lowland habitat overnight. The surviving population retreated to the Centre Hills, where it remains critically endangered. Fewer than 500 breeding pairs are estimated to persist.
Montserrat itself issues no independent coinage, making the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank the sole monetary authority for this series.
