| Aversbeschreibung | The arms of Belize occupy the central field, depicting two shirtless woodcutters as supporters — the dexter figure shouldering an axe and the sinister figure holding a paddle — flanking a shield charged with woodcutting tools above a sailing vessel on the lower division, with a mahogany tree rising behind the shield. The supporters and shield are encircled by a wreath of olive branches tied at the base. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto SUB UMBRA FLOREO. The country name BELIZE arcs along the upper legend, and the date 1982 appears in the lower field. A beaded border frames the entire design. |

| Reversbeschreibung | A highly detailed, naturalistic depiction of a Yellow-Headed Amazon parrot (Amazona oratrix) perched in three-quarter view on a bare branch extending across the lower field, with a leafy spray rising behind the bird to the upper left. The plumage is rendered with fine engraved feather detail against a mirror-polished proof field. The denomination TEN DOLLARS is inscribed in two lines along the lower left arc of the coin, following the inner beaded border that frames the design. |

| Zusätzliche Informationen |
Belize gained independence from Britain in September 1981, and this issue belongs to the first wave of commemorative coinage struck under the newly sovereign Central Bank — an institution that had existed for barely a year when KM#69a was produced. The Yellow-Headed Amazon series was part of a broader Wildlife Conservation program that Belize promoted internationally in the early 1980s, partly to attract foreign collector revenue at a time when the young nation's foreign exchange reserves were extremely thin.
The .925 silver version was struck alongside a base metal counterpart, with the silver pieces directed almost entirely at the export collector market rather than domestic circulation.
