Obverse description The obverse is printed in shades of red and orange on a light background, centered on a Romanesque archway vignette rendered in fine intaglio detail, with an obelisk visible to the left. The denomination numeral '10' appears in large letterpress at upper left and lower right, with the EU flag in blue at upper left and a holographic stripe along the right margin. The multicolour guilloche underprint carries the inscriptions '10 EURO / EYPO' at lower centre, and the copyright line '© BCE ECB EZB EKT EKP 2002' runs along the top edge above a facsimile signature.

The serial number is printed in dark ink at upper right and repeated at lower left, with a ring of stars from the guilloche underprint visible at left.
