Obverse description Three giant eland heads (Taurotragus derbianus) in high relief, facing left and arranged in overlapping profile across the field, their long spiral horns extending prominently toward the upper portion of the coin. The circular legend AFRIQUE EQUATORIALE FRANÇAISE and INSTITUT D'EMISSION runs along the upper periphery, while the date 1958 and the territorial name CAMEROUN appear in the lower field. The engraver's signature G.B. L. BAZOR is incused to the right of the central design.

Reverse description The large numeral 10 dominates the central field, with the denomination legend FRANCS below and the essai inscription ESSAI placed above in the upper field. The numeral and legend are encircled by an ornate wreath composed of wheat ears at the top, cocoa pods along the sides, and coffee branches with berries and blossoms at the base, rendered in finely detailed relief characteristic of the Bazor engraving style.
