| Opmerkingen |
De Surinaamsche Bank was established in 1865 as a private institution with the right of note issue for the Dutch colony — a concession that made it the dominant financial authority in Suriname for decades. This note spans a remarkably long issue period, which points to printing in batches with date ranges filled in manually or left undifferentiated rather than annual reissues with distinct designs.
Enschedé's Haarlem workshop handled colonial currency for Dutch territories across multiple continents during this period, and the watermark security on this issue was consistent with their standard colonial output. The long date range and single Pick reference suggest relatively little design variation across the series.
