| Opmerkingen |
Namibia's transition from the South African rand to its own currency in 1993 was as much a political statement as an economic one — the new dollar was introduced at par with the rand, and the two currencies remained legal tender side by side in Namibia for years afterward. The 10-dollar denomination was a workhorse of everyday transactions throughout that arrangement.
Oberthur Fiduciaire, the French security printer behind this issue, has produced currency for numerous post-independence African states. The P#11 series marks a routine modernization within the established design family rather than a wholesale redesign.
