Peru's nuevo sol series was introduced in 1991 to replace the inti, which had collapsed under hyperinflation that peaked above 7,000 percent annually in 1990. The 10 Nuevos Soles note was part of the redesigned polymer-to-cotton transition run printed by De La Rue Giori in Lausanne, a facility better known for its intaglio currency work across Latin America during that decade.
P#174 is a relatively workaday entry in the series — no major varieties, no documented printing errors of note. The security thread specification is modest by early 2000s standards.
