| Obverse description | Central field displays the elaborate tughra of Sultan Mahmud II, the imperial Ottoman calligraphic monogram rendered in high relief with characteristic sweeping loops and vertical strokes. The tughra is enclosed within a beaded or rope-pattern inner circle. The flan is notably irregular at the edges, consistent with hammered billon coinage of the Tripolitan regency period. The field surrounding the tughra is plain and slightly concave. |
