Cuba's shift to Czechoslovak printers after 1960 was a direct consequence of the US trade embargo and the broader realignment of the revolutionary government toward the Eastern Bloc. The Státní Tiskárna Cenin in Prague, which had been producing security documents since the interwar period, took on Cuban currency contracts as part of wider economic cooperation agreements between Havana and Prague.
