Obverse description Central device depicts a stylistically rendered Caldén tree (Prosopis caldenia), a native tree of the Argentine Pampas, rendered in a geometric linear engraving style with hatched shading to convey volume and foliage. The tree is set within a partial circular arc in the field. The legend REPÚBLICA ARGENTINA curves along the upper periphery, while the denomination identifier CALDÉN is inscribed along the lower rim.

Additional information

This denomination was introduced as part of Argentina's response to accelerating inflation that was steadily eroding the purchasing power of smaller coins. By the time production of this type ended in 2020, inflation had already rendered 10 pesos nearly worthless for everyday transactions — the Banco Central was simultaneously planning higher-denomination coinage that would itself become inadequate within months.
