The watermark security on notes of this value reflects a modest but functional specification, appropriate for a denomination that sees heavy everyday handling in a cash-dependent economy.
Nepal converted to a constitutional republic in 2008, ending 240 years of monarchy. Notes issued in the years immediately following that transition carry no royal cipher — a deliberate omission that marked a clean break from earlier series.
