| Obverse description | Portrait of King George VI in military uniform within an oval guilloche vignette at right, the Arms of Mauritius with motto STELLA CLAVISQUE MARIS INDICI at centre, and an oval watermark void at left, all set against a fine green and pink geometric underprint. The denomination TEN RUPEES appears in large letterpress below the arms, with trilingual inscriptions in Tamil and Hindi beneath. Two manuscript signatures of the Commissioners of Currency appear at lower centre, with the issuing authority and place of issue printed below. |
