A rectangular text block in the centre cites the legal basis for the note under Presidential Law No. 1 of 1946, followed by the place and date of issue (Tandjungkarang) and the manuscript signature of the Residen below a circular official red stamp of the Keresidenan Lampung. | Opis rewersu | The reverse is printed in black and features an elaborate woodcut-style vignette of dense tropical foliage, birds, and decorative scrollwork filling the entire field. At the centre, a plain rectangular panel contains an Indonesian-language text stating that this temporary legal tender will be exchanged for currency of the Republic of Indonesia, Propinsi Sumatera, upon receipt of authorisation from the Governor of Prop. Sumatera dated 9-1-1948 No. 42111 D.K.O., and is accepted by Perwakilan Bank Negara Indonesia and all state treasuries in the Keresidenan Lampung. The large numeral 10 appears above the text panel. |

Keresidenan Lampung was one of several residency-level authorities in Sumatra that issued their own emergency currency in 1946, filling the vacuum left by the collapse of Dutch colonial financial infrastructure and the inability of the newly proclaimed Republic to supply sufficient central currency to outlying regions. These notes were printed locally under rudimentary conditions in Tandjungkarang — the administrative capital of Lampung — rather than at any established security press.
Provincial and residency issues from this period are among the most fragile survivors of Indonesian revolutionary-era paper money. The printing materials, ink quality, and paper stock were whatever could be sourced locally, and the notes deteriorated quickly in Sumatra's climate.
