The Turks and Caicos Islands had no central bank and no locally issued currency for most of their history — this 1924 Government issue is among the earliest surviving paper money attributable to the territory. De La Rue produced the notes in London, a standard arrangement for British colonial administrations that lacked the infrastructure for domestic printing.
Pick 2 is genuinely rare. The islands' small population and limited commercial activity meant low print runs, and few notes survived the humid Caribbean climate that is notoriously destructive to paper. Salt raking was still the dominant industry at the time of issue — hardly an economy generating heavy banknote circulation.
