Part of a ten-coin series issued by Samoa in 2010, each piece in the set corresponds to one of the Ten Commandments — a format that became commercially popular among Pacific island mints in the 2000s as a way to generate collector revenue from thematic religious series. The ninth commandment, prohibiting false witness, was among several in the set that attracted particular interest from Christian collector markets in Europe and North America.
