Beschrijving keerzijde A stylized double-headed rooster rendered in a traditional Kazakh ornamental style is depicted within a raised border circle at the centre of the field, its two heads facing outward to left and right with decorative scrollwork forming the body and tail feathers in a manner reminiscent of ancient steppe animal-style art. A spiral motif representing the sun appears at the top of the inner circle. The circular legend ҚАЗАҚСТАН • РЕСПУБЛИКАСЫ runs along the upper rim, with the date 1993 inscribed along the lower rim, all separated by dot stops.

Aanvullende informatie

Kazakhstan's first national coinage was issued in 1993, just two years after independence, when the tenge replaced the Soviet ruble at a rate of 500 rubles to one tenge. The transition was abrupt — citizens had three days to exchange their rubles before the old currency was rendered worthless.

The 1993 series was struck at the Banka Litwa mint in Lithuania, one of several post-Soviet states that contracted foreign minting capacity before establishing domestic facilities.
