Obverse description The national coat of arms of Vanuatu is depicted at centre, featuring a traditionally attired Melanesian warrior standing on a ceremonial pig tusk, holding an upright spear in his right hand and a palm frond in his left, set against a circular boar tusk device. The motto scroll at the base of the arms bears the national legend in Bislama. The country name legend reads 'RIPABLIK BLONG VANUATU' arranged around the periphery, with the date '2016' positioned in the upper field above the arms.

Additional information

Vanuatu has no meaningful connection to the 1972 Munich Olympics — this is a bullion-adjacent collector issue produced solely for the numismatic export market, a category in which the Reserve Bank of Vanuatu has been prolific. The 14-karat gold composition keeps raw material costs low while allowing a nominal face value that satisfies legal tender technicalities.
