The Truong Son Supply Command operated the logistical network running men and materiel from North Vietnam through Laos and Cambodia into the south. These notes were issued as internal scrip for soldiers and porters working the Trail — a closed monetary system that prevented currency from leaking into local village economies or falling into hands that could reveal supply routes through captured documents.

The Ho Chi Minh Trail notes remain among the most obscure military scrip issues of the Vietnam War period. Most were destroyed or discarded at the end of missions. The command that issued them was itself a military secret.
