This is not a state-issued banknote but a factory token note — an emergency wage coupon issued by the Munja ("Lightning") battery and accumulator manufacturer in Zagreb. Such internal currency was used by Yugoslav industrial enterprises during periods when the official banking system could not guarantee timely cash payrolls, a recurring problem during the economic disruptions of the early-to-mid 20th century.
The issuer's name doubles as the note's popular designation, which is unusual enough to make attribution straightforward even without state markings. Munja was one of the more significant industrial operations in interwar Zagreb.
