Giesecke & Devrient relocated its main banknote printing operations from Munich to Leipzig following German reunification, and this note falls squarely within that transitional period for the firm. The holographic strip was still a relatively recent addition to African currency security at this point — Swaziland adopted it earlier than several of its larger neighbors.
