Obverse description The obverse is dominated by a central vignette of the Salazar Bridge spanning the Quanza River, rendered in fine intaglio line work in blue and green tones. To the right, an oval portrait of the explorer Alexandre Alberto de Serpa Pinto appears within a decorative frame, with his name inscribed below. The bank title and denomination numerals are set in letterpress at the upper border, with a coat of arms at the top centre and the decree date and issue date visible along the upper guilloche band.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in deep violet and carries a large central vignette of a herd of African elephants gathered at a wooded watering hole, their reflections rendered in the calm water below, all executed in finely detailed intaglio engraving. The denomination title in large capitals appears at the base of the vignette, while the bank title is set across the top between the numeral counters. The printer's imprint is visible in small lettering along the lower margin.
