100 Florin

Aruba's separation from the Netherlands Antilles in 1986 as a separate Status Aparte territory required building financial infrastructure essentially from scratch. The Centrale Bank van Aruba was established that same year, and this 100 Florin note belongs to the first generation of issues that gave the new entity a distinct monetary identity separate from Curaçao-dominated Antillean notes.

Evelino Fingal's design work for this series was notably local in character — unusual for a small Caribbean issuer that might otherwise have defaulted entirely to Enschedé's stock aesthetic. Enschedé's Haarlem facility had printed Netherlands Antilles notes for decades, so the relationship was already well-established when Aruba came to commission its own currency.
