The Commissariat National des Nouvelles-Hébrides was the Free French administrative authority governing the New Hebrides condominium — jointly administered with Britain — during the Second World War. This 100 Francs note was issued in 1943 as part of a small series produced to meet local currency needs after the fall of metropolitan France severed normal supply lines. The issuing authority itself was an improvised wartime institution, which explains the unusual nomenclature on the note rather than a conventional bank name.
Pick 3 is the scarcest of the three values in this series. Surviving examples in any condition are rarely offered.
