| Opmerkingen |
Printed by the American Bank Note Company in New York, this note was prepared in exile, part of a series produced for Luxembourg's post-liberation monetary reestablishment. When Allied forces entered Luxembourg in September 1944, the occupying German Reichskreditkassen notes had to be swept out of circulation rapidly — these ABNC-produced issues were the instrument for doing that.
The Grand Duchy had been under German occupation since May 1940, its own pre-war currency suppressed. Notes of this type were brought in with the liberating forces, making them unusual as wartime emergency issues that never needed to survive an extended circulation period.
